I have a new MC showreel and I LOVE it!
A showreel for a performer – be it a speaker or actor or for anyone whose business is essentially visual – is both a resumé and an advert. It shows potential clients what you have achieved and also the type of assignment/client you wish to attract in the future.
There are many benefits to a showreel –
- They provide a great first impression for bookers and clients
- They add movement to your website and highlight your personality
- It’s a great opportunity for you to reflect on the successes of your business
- It can be easily used in a variety of places – website, social media, email signature
For me, I wanted to highlight the more showbiz side of my work and whilst I don’t always get the chance to do a full stage, West End theatre-style production, when I do I’m going to make the most of it!
I have been known to write a song specifically for an MC event and comedy is interwoven through pretty much all that I do but it is quite rare that I am asked to sing show tunes with backing dancers! I have trained for this at one of the best musical theatre schools in the country: Mountview Academy of Performing Arts.
I also feel my showreel represents the energy I bring to an event – it is central to the role of MC to get people involved in proceedings, recognise those “energy slump” moments after lunch for example and pick up those who are flagging as well as keep everything running to schedule – no hangers-on at the bar after a break at my events!!! In this showreel, I am singing The Greatest Show and it truly was, thanks to the amazing set, lighting and backing dancers!
So here it is – my latest MC showreel – thanks to most definitely due to DPRG for the incredible set and lighting, Ed at Shooting Reels for the footage, Pete at Brightworks Media for the editing and Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce for allowing me to host their annual business awards.
So if you want to hire a motivational MC for your conference or award ceremony, do think of me!
